Signatories of international petition demand freedom for Badinan prisoners.
Thanks to your support, we are currently urging the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to release Sherwan Sherwani, Badal Barwary, and Omed Barushky from prison.
CPT has been collecting signatures for a petition to the KRG demanding Sherwan, Badal, and Omed’s release.
Today, we just sent petitions to the KRG with the signatures of all who signed. We are so grateful for everyone who supported this action.
The work to release Badal, Omed, and Sherwan is far from over though. Since August 21, Badal and Omed have been incarcerated for requesting the payment of salaries for government employees and bringing awareness to the injustice government employees face in Iraqi Kurdistan. And since October 7, Sherwan has been incarcerated for publicly criticizing the KRG, he is now living in solitary confinement.
We urge the KRG to listen to the voices of civil society and release Sherwan Sherwani, Badal Barwary, and Omed Barushky today.
