On October 27th, CPT Iraqi Kurdistan team members met with the family of Sharo Mahmood who was killed on March 21st, 2018 in Sarkan village alongside three other civilians as a result of the Turkish bombardment.
Kak Mahmood, the father of Sharo told CPT, “ We haven’t been able to go back to our village yet. Our house is completely destroyed and no body has compensated us.”
CPT continues to advocate for the rights of the civilians who have been impacted by Turkish and Iranian military operations in Iraqi Kurdistan.

On October 29th CPT met with the family of Badii Kamal, who was killed by artillery shelling on September 3rd of this year. Badii was a 29-year-old shepherd from Akwan village in the Sidakan sub-district. Jamal, Badii's uncle, told CPT, "On the day of the incident, Badii, my niece, and I were in Merga Hawsh, tending to our animals when the attack occurred, resulting in Badii's death." Jamal added, "I was taking his body to the foot of the mountain until my family arrived."

On October 29, CPT met Nechir Hakim and his brother in Hawdian village. Nechir is a shepherd from Balasnan village in the Sidakan district.
On July 12 of this year, an artillery shelling from a nearby Turkish base on Shakev Mountain injured him. He recounted, 'We were milking our sheep when the attack happened. My right arm was hit by shrapnel, and it went numb immediately. I wanted to escape, but I couldn't. In that attack, eight of my animals were killed, and 16 animals were injured.'

Turkish Armed Forces have been operating on the ground in Barwary Balla for ten days and have entered multiple villages in the region.
