Government employees block Arbat road.

Teachers and other public sector employees held a protest on Monday on the road from Arbat to Sulaymaniah. It is part of an ongoing campaign calling for the payment of unpaid salaries. They attempted to stop oil trucks from passing in a show of defiance at the Iraqi central and Kurdistan governments continuing to make millions of dollars in oil revenue while they have refused to pay public sector employees for over two months. There is a lot of “illegal” oil exported from which most of the revenue goes directly into parliamentary members pockets.

Security forces arrived and forcibly dispersed the protest, arresting people and leaving many injured. Twelve Journalists who were there covering the protests were also beaten, held and had their equipment taken by the Kuridstan security forces.

لە ڕۆژی دوو شەممە، مامۆستایان و کارمەندانی حکومی لەسەر ڕێگای نێوان عەربەت-سلێمانی خۆپێشاندان و ناڕەزایەتییان بەڕێوەبرد. ئەم ناڕەزایەتییە بەشێکە لە هەڵمەتێکی گەورەتر بۆ پێدانی موچە و گەڕاندنەوەی هەموو ئەو موچانەی کە گوایە پاشەکەوت کراون. وەک کاردانەوەیەک بەرامبەر بە ڕەتکردنەوەی پێدانی موچە لەلایەن حکومەتی هەرێمی کوردستان و حکومەتی ناوەندی عێراق، خۆپێشاندەران ڕێگەیان لە تانکەرە نەوتەکان گرت کە هەردوو حکومەت ملیۆنان دۆلار لە داهاتی ئەم نەوتە وەدەست دەخەن. هێزە ئەمنییەکان چوونە شوێنی خۆپێشاندانەکە و سەرباری بڵاوەپێکردنیان چەند خۆپێشاندەرێک دەستگیرکران و هەندێکی تریشیان برینداربوون. ١٢ ڕۆژنامەنوسیش کە بۆ ڕوماڵکردنی خۆپێشاندانەکە لەوێ بوون، پێشێلکارییان بەرامبەرکرا. هەندێکیان لێیاندرا و هەندێکی تریشیان دەست بەسەر کەلوپەلە ڕۆژنامەوانییەکانییاندا گیرا.
