About Us
Community Peacemaker Teams (CPT) is an international violence-reduction and human rights organization. We are registered in the USA as a faith-based 501(c)(3) non-profit and in Iraqi Kurdistan as an international non-governmental organization (INGO). We offer an organized, nonviolent alternative to war and other forms of lethal inter-group conflict and provide organizational support to persons committed to nonviolent alternatives in situations where violence is an immediate reality or is supported by public policy. We accompany communities affected by violence and oppression, document human rights violations and advocate for nonviolent solutions.
Our Mission
Building partnerships with Iraqi Kurdistan's civil society to transform violence and oppression.
Our Vision
A world of communities that together embrace the diversity of the human family and live justly and peaceably with all creation.

History
From 2002 until 2006 Community Peacemaker Teams was based in Baghdad and worked in central and southern regions of Iraq documenting the impacts of war on civilians and supporting the alternative Iraqi nonviolent movements and initiatives for peace.
Since 2006 the team has worked in Iraqi Kurdistan alongside Kurdish farmers and shepherds impacted by cross-border bombings and international companies' operations, civil society activist and minority groups facing discrimination and violence, and non-violent initiatives to build peace and respect for individual and communal rights.
Outside Iraqi Kurdistan, CPT partners with human rights defenders, grass-roots organizations and nonviolent initiatives through its programs in Colombia, Palestine, the Aegean Region, Canada, the USA and various projects in other regions of the world. Learn more through: www.cpt.org
