Meeting the family of drone strike victim, Asti Mohammad
“The Turkish drones are very precise. They can distinguish between civilians and armed groups. All that matter is if they are Kurdish.”
On October 9, CPT-IK visited Kak Shenga in Ranya. His mother, Asty Mohammad Abdullah, was recently killed by a Turkish drone strike outside her house in Bokriskhan on September 27.
Kak Shenga described his mother as a pillar of the community, "(her house) was a shelter for people. She was hosting everyone. Everyone was appreciating the work she was doing. She was serving everyone. She was serving and taking care of the people all around her."
He also spoke of her constant strength under challenging circumstances. "She suffered a lot in her life. She relocated, lost her husband, poverty, and the tragedy of being killed in front of her house. She was the older woman with the stronger voice. You could take her to any negotiation, and she would have her own voice."
Asty Mohmmad is the 148th civilian killed due to Turkish military actions in Iraqi Kurdistan since 2015. Kak Shanga reinforced the widely shared opinion that Turkey doesn't care about Kurdish civilian casualties, "The Turkish drones are very precise. لە ٩ی تشرینی یەکەمدا، تیمی کوردستانی عێراقی CPT، سەردانی بەڕێز شەنگە زەنگلی کرد. دایکی کاک شەنگە، ئەستی محەمەد عەبدوڵڵا لە ٢٧ی ئەیلوولدا و لە بۆردوومانێکی فڕۆکە بێفڕۆکەوانەکانی تورکیا بۆسەر گوندی بۆکریسکان گیانی سپارد.
کاک شەنگە باسی لەوە کرد کە چۆن دایکی وەکو کۆڵەکەیەکی کۆمەڵایەتی بووە بۆ خانەوادە و کۆمەڵگاکەیان. شەنگە گوتی “ماڵی دایکم وەک پەناگە وابووە بۆ خەڵکی. میواندۆستی لە هەموو کەسێک ئەکرد. خەڵکی پێزانین و ڕێزیان نیشاندەدا بۆ خانەدانی و میواندۆستیەکەی. ئەو خزمەتی هەمووانی دەکرد و گرنگی بە کەسوکار و خەڵکی دەووروبەی دەدا.”
کاک شەنگە بۆ ئەندامانی تیمی CPTیشی باس کرد کە چۆن دایکی وەکو ژنێکی بەهێز لە ژێر بارودۆخی قورس و پڕ لە ئاڵەنگاریدا بەردەوامی بە ژیان داوە. “دایکم لە ژیاندا مەینەتی زۆری چەشت. دایکم ئاوارەیی بینیبوو. هاوژینەکەی لەدەستدابوو. هەژاری چەشتبوو. لە کۆتاییشدا بە مەرگێکی تراژیدی کۆتایی بەژیانی هاتوو لەبەردەم ماڵەکەی خۆیدا شەهیدکرا. ئەو ژنێکی بەتەمەن و دەنگێکی دلێری ناومان بوو. دەتتوانی بۆ هەر کۆڕ و کۆبوونەوە و دانوستانێکی کۆمەڵایەتی بیبەیت و دایکم خاوەنی قسە و بیرکردنەوەی خۆی بوو.”
لە ساڵی ٢٠١٥ەوە، ئەستی محەمەد ١٤٨ەمین شەهید مەدەنی بۆردوومان و چالاکییە سەربازییەکانی تورکیایە لە خاکی هەرێمی کوردستانی عێراقدا. کاک شەنگە دووپاتی لەو ڕاستییە باوە کردەوە کە تورکیا بەلایەوە گرنگ نیە هاوڵاتیانی کوردی مەدەنی ببن بە قوربانی. شەنگە گوتی “فڕۆکە بێفڕۆکەوانەکانی تورکیا زۆر ورد و دەقیقن. دەتوانن جیاوازی بکەن لە نێوان خەڵکی مەدەنی و چەکداردا. بەڵام ئەوان بەلایانەوە گرنگ نیە کێ چەکدارە و کێ مەدەنی. ئەوەی گرنگە بەلایانەوە کوردێک بکرێتە ئامانج.”
