CPT-IK concerned on the whereabouts of journalist Sleman Ahmad

CPT Iraqi Kurdistan is asking the KRG authorities to reveal the whereabouts of journalist Sleman Ahmad.

Our team was informed that on 25 October, 2023 Sleman Ahmad, a Kurdish-Syrian journalist, was arrested at Faysh Khabur border crossing while on his way to Sulaymaniyah to return to work after visiting his family in Northeast Syria. According to law, KRG authorities should communicate the reasons of Sleman’s arrest and inform the family about the location of his detention.
