On October 29th CPT met with the family of Badii Kamal, who was killed by artillery shelling on September 3rd of this year. Badii was a 29-year-old shepherd from Akwan village in the Sidakan sub-district.
Jamal, Badii's uncle, told CPT, "On the day of the incident, Badii, my niece, and I were in Merga Hawsh, tending to our animals when the attack occurred, resulting in Badii's death." Jamal added, "I was taking his body to the foot of the mountain until my family arrived."
Badii's family expressed that the nomadic lifestyle in Sidakan is being destroyed due to the Turkish invasion. Many villages have been evacuated since then, and people are afraid to return to the mountainsides. For many, their animals are their only source of income, and the Turkish bombardments have severely impacted their livelihoods and put their lives in danger.
